Liver abscess
Hello Doctor, My father (54 year old) has showed symptoms of liver abscess around 2 weeks back like high fever. One week back he was diagnosed with liver abcess. Amoebic serology report is still pending. Ultrasound on 10th showed 53cc abscess. However today's ultrasound showed 75cc abscess. what should be done immediat

Medicines can treat liver abscess completely ... Rarely,, pigtail drainage or needle aspiration is also required

An untreated hepatic abscess is nearly uniformly fatal as a result of complications that include sepsis, empyema, or peritonitis from rupture into the pleural or peritoneal spaces, and retroperitoneal extension. Treatment should include drainage, either percutaneous or surgical...Antimicrobial treatment is a common adjunct to percutaneous or surgical drainage..discuss the issue with your surgeon they will do the needful.
