Losartan 50mg usage
62/f,pt of DM,HTN,nephrotic syndrome.BP 110/70mmhg when patient is on TELMA-AM(40+5) now Dr changed it to losartan 50mg.How frequently serum potassium should be monitored in patients using loasartan 50mg?

First have baseline values of Creatinine and potassium .Check after 3 months of initiation of treatment . Creatinine level 30% above the baseline value or potassium level =or more than 5.5 mmol/l one should think about continuation of Losartan treatment .In most of the cases this does not happen .
Next Steps
keep checking Serum electrolytes and creatinine levels at least once in 6 months

Losartan plain does not decrease potassium so no need to regular check up at the most get tested once after few days of taking this medicine

At baseline and after 3 months. If it comes normal then after every 6 months if creatinine is normal.
