Both are good. Depends upon the indication. Naturally, carvedilol is cardioselective, so it doesn't cause much side effects, like on glucose profie, as metoprolol does. But before changing the medication, its better to get your basic profile checked in person with the one who has pre3scribwd ypu the antihypertensive. Broadly speaking, metoprolol as such isn't contraindicated, but unril you are a diabetic patient with poor glycaic cotrol, its better to switch under proper guidance.

Yes you are correct in the fact that metoprolol increases blood sugar level.. But that happens only in patient who are not on insulin.
In pts on insulin this is rarely seen.
Carvedilol can be taken in such situation as it have no effect on Blood sugar levels.
However there are many other category of Antihypertension medicines that are available.
Next Steps

Dear Sir
Hypertension is a very common disease and inverses with age. Betablockers have many side effects and are no longer the 1st,2nd or 3rd line medications used. Metoprolol is quicker acting and carvedilol has shown benefits in persons with heart failure.
I would suggest you take an online consult to get the latest evidence based medication for yourself.
