My 5 year old son has fever; throat infection and congestion and has been prescribed meftal syrup. After 6 hours his temperature is shooting up again. What is a safe interval for the next dose?

Avoid meftal unless fever is 103 or above. Use paracetamol for fever and repeat every 4 hours if required. Meftal can be repeated after every 6 hours. Give just steam inhalations for cold and cough and decongestant nasal drops for nasal block or increased cough on lying down.
