Meniscus Tear
I am a defense personnel. My Knee got twisted on 16 oct. Mild swelling and pain since then. MRI report shows Complex full thickness tear in medial meniscus. Adviced by a Dr. for arthroscopy. However another Dr adviced for 3 weeks physiotherapy. Now I want to know if surgery is mandatory or physiotherapy can help. No instability of knee, only click sound sometimes, mild pain.

It is nearly a month since injury. Do physiotherapy for 4 to 6 wk. If you  get relief, it's  fine. If not, then go for arthoscopy.

Physiotherapy can't help in a fully thickness meniscus tear. As the injury is a month old now, less chances are that it will heal with rest.

Arthroscopic is favoured means of trading torn meniscus either with repair or excision depending on site, size and type of meniscus tear.
