Menopause and Thyroid
53 years, Irregular menstrual cycle but light. Probably perimenopause. Recently got some tests done. TSH 16 with low T4, ESR 36, Hb1Ac 6.2 Rest all normal. Also a dry cough which seems to be related to hormones as experiencing it for few days a month only. Leg and arm pain sometimes. No other symptoms. Any treatment required?

Please also get your FSH level and sonography of the lower abdomen done and consult a Gynaecologist.

First, you need to correct your TSH levels should be less than five. Second You should get yourself tested for B12 and vitamin D. Correct all these three parameters and most probably your symptoms will go.

Thyroid levels are too high This is called hypothyroidism Yes you need a medicine to normalise the deranged thyroid levels Reason for leg and arm pain is calcium deficiency
