This condition is called Trapezitis and can be associated with cervical spondylitis. We spend most of our time in a slouched position that is why the Trapezius muscle has moved from its original position and shifted antero-laterally. Since this is not the natural position of the muscle and this being continued for probably months or years, the muscle starts getting tired faster, cramping & paining. This is followed by reduced range of motion at the neck. Home remedy : You can try home remedy by taking hot packs 5 times a day and correcting your body posture at home and at work. But i doubt it will help considering you have so much stiffness.!
Next Steps
See a physio in person. The physio will assess and focus to bring down the pain with the help of pain reliving modalities, cupping therapy and correcting your body posture. Once the pain and stiffness goes down by 40%, the physio will start exercises & stretches while continuing the machines. You might also require cervical traction machine by 8 or 9th day of the treatment. It generally takes 15-20 days for this kind of pain to go and not come back. Take care.
Health Tips
-Avoid long hours on cellphone /  Desktop -If using desktop for more than 8 hours a day, try to do some neck movements every 30 mins to reduce the static loading of stress on the cervical spine -Use a medium size & a firm pillow / cervical pillow while sleeping
