Newborn Jaundice
My newborn baby is 3 days old his bilirubin level came 12.6 and doctors saying mild jaundice and needs antibiotics and phototherapy. They are not discharging from hospital and extending stay 2 days. Is it really needed ? Can we leave hospital and take treatment at home. Thanks

Jaundice in newborn babies may also requires to consider other risk factors like mother&baby's blood group, preterm or term baby, sepsis, dehydration etc...

Hi, jaundice depends on the birth weight/ today’s weight/ mother and baby’s blood group/ term or preterm.

Hi! I understand your concern in tough times. Please Keep trust in your doctor, if baby requires phototherapy that can’t be given at home. Not alone the TSB value it depends on If baby is Preterm/term, birth weight and any other risk factors, mother and baby blood group etc Further details would be required before we come to a conclusion.
