Hi
Usually OCD treatment lasts for 9-12 months and again it depends on severity & chronicity. Don't stop medicines suddenly, you can consult psychiatrist, he will assess and let u know can medicines be stopped or tapered.
Health Tips
please never think about stopping medicines as long as you are getting relief because it will affect your quality of life.
thank you.
Depending upon how long you have been suffering, any family history etc OCD treatment can usually be long term. There have been several instances where after stopping medication the symptoms may come back or evolve into different symptoms. However this cannot be said with certainty.
Next Steps
It is highly recommended to take up Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy which includes ERP, Systematic De-sensitisation, CBT. These therapies are evidence based and help patients to build effective coping mechanisms.
