Hip is a very well protected joint. Post dislocation any joint needs to be immobiliser for 4-6 weeks, depending on severity of injury and amount of joint damage done. But you can start walking by 4 weeks and work normally by 6-8 weeks.

Is the hip reduced and then stabilised with an.operation? You will need to give it 3-4 months to heal.
