Take probiotics 30 minutes to 1 hour after meals, preferably with breakfast or lunch, and prebiotics anytime, with or without food, and continue supplementation for 1-4 weeks (acute issues), 3-6 months (chronic conditions), or 1-3 months (general gut health), under healthcare professional guidance.

For your concerns regarding prebiotics and probiotics, it's typically recommended to take probiotics either before or after meals, depending on the specific type of supplement you're using. Many probiotics are best taken 30 minutes before food to ensure the bacteria reach your gut alive, but some work well after a meal. As for prebiotics, they are generally consumed with food. The duration for taking these supplements can vary based on the condition being treated. For gut health restoration after using PPIs (Proton Pump Inhibitors), which might have affected your gut flora, it's often advisable to continue probiotics for at least 4-6 weeks, but this can be adjusted based on individual needs and response. Since you've mentioned gastritis and previous use of PPIs, it's essential to ensure that any ongoing digestive issues are addressed correctly. I recommend a detailed consultation to evaluate your current health and tailor a more specific plan for you. • Probiotics: It’s often suggested to take probiotics just before a meal or with a meal. This is because the food can help buffer stomach acid, allowing more of the probiotics to survive the acidic environment of the stomach and reach the intestines where they exert their effects. • Prebiotics: These are typically fiber-based and can be taken before or with meals. Since prebiotics are not affected by stomach acid like probiotics, the timing is less critical. They work by nourishing the good bacteria in the gut.
Health Tips
The timing of taking prebiotics and probiotics can vary depending on the specific product and formulation. However, these are general recommendations.
