Protein intake for kidney patients
My mother did a kidney function test in April.her eGFR is 55 ,Creatinine is 1.10 ,Urea serum 15 ,Albumin Creatinine ratio is 2.58 and her electrolytes are normal.she has BP, Cholesterol and Diabetes.her doctor recommended to take protein for every meal.I heard kidney patients should reduce protein intake.please advise?

Hi Proteinuric kidney disease 0.8g/kg body weight of protein would be enough. Most Indian diets have low protein anyway.. especially vegetarian diet.. just avoid red meat..

She should not take a high protein diet.. but she can take around 0.8-1 g/kg of protein per day
