I have developed red patches on roof of my mouth. Although, it's painless and non itchy. I have no difficulties in swallowing food as well. But, I had history of smoking for four years. I have already quit it from 1.5 months. I was also Gargling my mouth with hot water for few days. Have the patches formed due to thermal burn? But, as I told it's painless with no such burning sensation and neither do I have any such patches or lesions at any other parts of mouth.

Hello Sir , Welcome to Practo
This is your Dentist -
I went through the query and the attached images.
Yes, Red patches are due to thermal burn from the hot gargel . Skin up there is very delicate .
Use luke warm water to gargle and not excessive warm.
Stop it(gargling) for a while and just use a mouthwash instead
- Colgate Plax mouthwash. If there is burning sensation after use, kindly dilute with water.
- Applying nubing Gel over the are will induce Gagging. So no ointment needed.
You will be fine nothing to worry about.
Have a Good day.
Thank's Alot.
