Dear Madam/Sir,
My kid has been diagnosed with Bronchal Asthma and was under severe respiratory
problem 6 months ago due to poor treatment. Now, he is fine but taking budamate 200 daily.
I just want to know that whether a paediatrician is right specialist to further treat my kid for the said ailment.
I have a feeling that my kid's current pulmonologist got annoyed at this question and referred him to paediatrician.
I had to ask it because I m a Cghs beneficiary and the government official asked me to confirm it same from the empanelled doctor.
Please suggest the right specialist so that he does not suffer again due to poor treatment.

Hi
Asthma is best managed by a pediatric Pulmonologist. A pediatric Pulmonologist is trained and experienced in managing airways, lung, chest diseases like asthma, wheezing, pneumonia.
A good Pulmonologist will be able to educate you about what is asthma and what are the current best treatment protocols as per international guidelines.
I am a practicing pediatric Pulmonologist based in Delhi and have been practicing pediatric pulmonology for almost 15 years now. Don't worry. Asthma is now a very common disease and there are very effective treatment options to bring asthma under control in all age groups including children

Dear Sir both, a good pediatrician or a pulmonologist are correct choices to treat your son. It becomes a personal choice and comfort issue more than eligibility issue. Hope you find the correct person .. more important than the degree the person holds.
Paediatrician is for holistic approach not just for Asthana he or she will take care if child’s nutrition vaccination and other ailments other than than Asthama so review with your pulmonologist for current issue take an opinion from your paediatrician when you visit for vaccination or other issues
