Regarding thyroid
When to start medicine for thyroid n can be controlled without medicine at early stages with exercise n diet, my tsh level is 8.5 so shall i start medication or shall i wait n do exercise than check after two months is there a decrese in tsh or is it same or has increased. I have also gain around 5 kg of weight n also having stomach disorder n also feel lazy n body feels heavy n also a decrease in stamina. Kindly suggest me what should i do because acc. To my knowledge once u start medicine for thyroid its a life long cycle.

Hi, The symptoms of weight gain and lethargy with TSH values of 8.5 are suggestive of Hypothyroidism. I believe, it will be good to start medications with exercise and diet changes. A regular monitoring of TSH will be needed on two monthly basis and once it starts improving, the medications can be tapered off.
