Removal of metal implant
I had tibia and fibula fracture and was operated on Apr 2019. There was a intramedullary nailing in my leg. I have attached an x-ray taken on January 2020. Can I get my implant removed in November 2020?

Hello. I understand your condition. X-Ray shows uniting fracture but not satisfactory enough. May I know the reason you have opted for implant removal a bit quicker? Does the implant bother you in anyway? Do you have any knee pain? If you don’t have any issues, then I would suggest you to wait for another 6 months. A repeat X-Ray after 6 months would give us a good picture

18 months is the minimum time for removal of implants after clinical and radiological healing of fracture. I think it will be 18 months by Nov 2020 and please follow up with your treating doctor and follow the advice
