Ribs and upper back pain
Sharp consistent pain on the left side of ribs under arms and also on left upper back. Gets worsen during sleep. Pain increases with deep inhale. Difficulties in movement particularly during sleep and bending on right side. Applying hot pad and medicine did not improve the situation. What can it possibly be?

Hello. Pain in the typical rib cage area is most commonly due to costochondritis or neuropathic pain due to any rheumatological disorder. It can also be due to fluid collection around your heart or lungs. Furthur examination is needed to find out the cause. Treatment should be initiated accordingly. Please consult a rheumatologist for further opinion in this matter. Simple painkillers will not solve the problem. Hope this helps.
