There are different duration for different Psychiatric medications. Stopping them before adequate duration can cause recurrence of symptoms. You should follow your Psychiatrist's advice or may take a second opinion, but do not change treatment by yourself.
Your question is too complex to answer via texts. You must trust your doctor who has specialised in the branch after studying for so many years. If not you may always change the psychiatrist
There would be a reason why he just be saying
Constant sadness that hampers life is depression
It if you smile and are happy and some times sad maybe it’s time to take other therapies like art therapy
Music
Meditation
See what you like
CBT might help too
It’s a arbitrary number that you have to be on psychiatric meds
Depending on your history, symptomatology and ongoing stressors you could be advised meds for 6 months to few years, some pts of recurrent depression even longer
You treating psychiatrist must have advised you with some rationale so continue the same, if you don’t trust your doctor and want a second opinion you can do that too
De addiction doctors are psychiatrists
