How risky it is doing an angiogram with a condition of Daibetes -8 years , CKD , creatinine -2.3 , sugar levels - below 200 , LVEF - 28% , large infarct seen in inferior wall

1. The angiogram is performed using high power x ray. Radiation exposure is the first risk. 2. The due used in the procedure had to go pout through the kidneys.  The creatinine levels are already high in this diabetic patient. Kidney function can worsen or even kidney failure can occur. 3. Risk of infection is always there in a diabetic patient. 4. Other complications like bleeding or hypertensive shock are always there in any patient. The LVEF is also low already, making it risky for this particulate patient.

The risk of NOT doing an angiogram is much more than doing it and that too with a recent MI Your cardiologist should be able to do it in minimum dye and reduce the chances of kidney damage No one can eliminate the risk of kidney damage totally
