Metal Crowns are not superior to pfm or Zirconia crowns but they are sufficiently strong to maintain the biting forces and the only major concern is the aesthetic component. Normally the Metals used in these crowns do not cause allergies and very few cases are reported, so that should not be a major concern, because if you are allergic to any of those metal components they are the same which are used in the core of the pfm Crowns. In such a scenario only Zirconia crowns can be fitted, but that decision depends upon the rare likelihood of the patient being allergic.
