Root canal Treatment
I started my RCT without knowing the entire cost. My dentist is forcing me for PFM and Zirconia crown. He/She told me that all metal crowns are not good and hygienic but I googled and found that there is no such issue with all metal crown. PFM and Zirconia crowns are very costly. It is not possible for everyone to bear it. My question is 1. Is it not worthy all metal crown? 2. Can I put my crown from another dentist after RCT?

1. There is NOTHING wrong with full metal crowns. They work absolutely well without any issues. Yes, you need to take extra care in maintaining crowns, but that's with any type of crown. You need not go in for only PFM or Zirconia crowns 2. Yes you definitely can get it done under another dentist's office. Hope this solves your query.

You should have discussed the entire treatment before the procedure was started, but nonetheless it is definitely practical to take a second opinion and get the Crown fitted from some other dentist. Metal Crowns are not superior to pfm or Zirconia crowns but they are sufficiently strong to maintain the biting forces and the only major concern is the aesthetic component. Normally the Metals used in these crowns do not cause allergies and very few cases are reported, so that should not be a major concern, because if you are allergic to any of those metal components they are the same which are used in the core of the pfm Crowns. In such a scenario only Zirconia crowns can be fitted, but that decision depends upon the rare likelihood of the patient being allergic. You can always take a second opinion because the decision of the Crown always rests with the patient and the job of the dentist is to make you aware of the advantages and disadvantages of different Crowns. Regards

Hello, Only problem with Metal crowns is the longivity and esthetics and if you have any allergies to metals. If you are not happy you can get your crown done elsewhere also.
