Need to know if an X-RAY is really required before the dentist figures out if RCT is required or not. I feel the dentist is fooling me but need to assure if I am consulting the right doctor.
Also, in Hyderabad, what is the cost of the RCT and the Cap!?

Yes x-ray is definitely needed before root canal treatment to rule out the extent of carious lesion...The cost of root canal treatment is around Rs. 3500 and for the capping the charges varies depends on type of caping material u chhose...For metal ceramics it is Rs.3500 and metal ceramic (with warranty) it is Rs. 5000 and for zirconia (Metal free crown) it is Rs.10,000 per teeth.....the cost of root canal treatment varies from area to area

An xray is taken to know the depth of deccay of the tooth also any changes in root area.if there are changes in the root area which can only be seen through an xray helps in determining if RCT needs to be done.
And when it comes to charges an RCT depends on which tooth how the infection is, and mode of treatment used manual or rotary and skill of the dentist approximately 3000-5000.
And cap(crowns) comes in various materials like metal(nc crowns) or pfm ( metal ceramic) or full ceramic crowns, zirconia etc depends on which you choose in zirconia also there are various brands that give a range of charges.. approx charges for metal ceramic 4000-6000. And for zirconia are from 8000- 15000 per cap depending of the brand chosen.

Definitely the final diagnosis can be done by X-ray as it shows the surrounding supporting structure of your tooth affected. Keep faith on your doctor or you may get second opinion
