Doc prescribed me olanzapine & advised me to tke medcn for lifetime bt due to unusual weight gain a side effect of this drug m not willing to tke drug furthermore & as of now I've overcome my symptoms of mental illness & feeling very much okay to an optimum. So m not taking my dose & also I evaluated myself of withdrawal symptoms. It's quite normal. I don't want to talk about this to my doc coz m pretty much sure he would suggest me not to do so. Hello, It is very heartening to know that you have recovered completely from Schizophrenia. The answer to your query here can be found by a comprehensive assessment, either by your previous Psychiatrist or a second opinion. 1. Stability of improvement and any residual symptoms of any. 2. Time since asymptomatic state. 3. Need of medication will be deciphered in basis of first two questions. 3. Family history of mental illness. 4. Use of substance or other risk factors. 5. Exact nature of side effects, and other medical contributory factors like thyroid, diabetes, PCOD etc. 6. Thereafter a decision can be arrived at collaboratively regarding medication. 7. If medication is required, some other class of medication for schizophrenia can ne given with lower or negligible side effective profile. Hence my suggestion for you is to discuss all this with a psychiatrist in person. Hope this helps you. Best wishes for your health and future.

The usual treatment period for psychosis n related disorders r minimum 1yr. If u opt to stop it before dat, der is high chance of the symptoms to reccur. Considering d symptoms in psychosis it's very difficult for d person to predict it's occurrence. However u need to be very cautious of any such unusual experiences n need to seek immediate help in case of recurrence. U may obtain more details on it from ny other psychiatrist from dis forum.
