Hi putting a child to sleep whether autistic or not is a task.Autistic children have difficult sleep patterns,so specific theory is said but certain factors may contribute.1.melatonin imbalance 2.They are not able to take social cues from others that its time to sleep .What can be done ?1.Try to set a routine 1 or 2 hrs before sleep (bath, massage etc)2.Avoid aggressive play two hrs befoe sleep 3.Engage in calming activities like drawing, listening to music ,read a book 4.Shut down eletronic interventions .5.Try and set a sleep music ,so gets an audible cue.Remember autistic kids need more sleep than usual kids
Hope this helps.
