Gum swelling and pain may be due to infection of the gum in relation to a tooth or due to decay in the tooth leading to periapical abscess. After clinical examination and X-ray, the diagnosis can be confirmed and the tooth can be treated accordingly.
Health Tips
Hot water gargles with salt will help reduce the discomfort. An over the counter painkiller like Combiflam or dolo 650 will help. Do consult a dentist as soon as possible.

Hello Mam, if pain & swelling is related to single tooth or adjacent gum, it may be localised problem(tooh infection) related to particular tooth. Pls take him to your Dentist for check up. The Dentist will able to also check any signs or symptoms because of tobacco chewing.
Health Tips
Taking painkiller medicine is a temporary resolution and will not solve the the root cause.
