It is difficult to give a proper diagnosis without the whole history and seeing the swelling of the ankle. Since it is only on the left ankle it's likely to be a localized problem such as cellulitis, stasis, deep vein thrombosis. You would require further investigation and evaluation to come with a specific diagnosis. If the swelling persists or increases or I would advise you to go to the nearest ER and get evaluated. To reduce the swelling of the feet the following remedies may help: - Place the foot in cold water with salt - Place an ice pack over the ankle - Keeping the foot elevated when possible and also elevation of foot under 2 pillows while sleeping - Proper foot care
