The painkillers and antibiotics take care of the infection to some extent but you have to undergo the Root Canal Treatment. Normally the Root Canal treatment is done under local anaesthetic and there is little or minimal pain. If tooth is not infected the root canal can be completed in 2 sittings,but in case there is some infection the number of sitting can go up. The capping is a must,it can be a metal or ceramic crown and the price varies with every dentist.

Dont leave treatment unfinished after pain subsides as the tooth can get reinfected and/or break if left without a crown.
