Treatment for Lateral Malleolus Fracture
My father has a lateral malleolus fracture. I am attaching the X-rays just after the injury and also after 6 days. Please advise whether surgery is needed or POP will suffice to treat the fracture?

These fractures are commonly managed by plaster only. Do get a well padded cast for 3-4 weeks. And then gradual mobilisation using brace.

Which x-ray is more recent it is not clear from the pictures which you have posted If the fracture is undisplaced just a plaster is enough If the fracture is displaced and you have ankle stability plaster is enough If the fracture is displaced and your ankle is unstable it made require reduction with a minor surgery as the ligament is attached to that area Let your doctor examine you and take the final call
