Trigeminal neuralgia has a lot of causes(Secondary). However, most commonly (Primary), there is no obvious cause - it is due to a pulsating blood vessel directly hugging the trigeminal nerve and irritating it. Medicines are the first line treatment option. If not responding to Medicines then some procedures like MVD, RFA are recommended by the Neurosurgeon. But first the cause needs to be ascertained in consultation with a Neuro Specialist.
