How does a trigger point or muscle knot looks like?
I have constant pain in the lower jaw under the ear and neck right side since May'20. Seen multiple dentists and doctors and no definite diagnosis yet.Constant sore and burning pain. Oral surgeon told me to try PT for few weeks. I did 3 weeks of manual therapy in August and it doesn't make any difference in the pain.
I am seeing another pt now, who said I have trigger points in neck. Scm and surrounding muscles around tmj. He said I need dry needling and manual trigger points therapy.
I have a very small lump under the ear which is soft and hurts to touch. I have another small lump which is very hard to touch and like chickpea size. Not visible. Same size for 10 months now. But I can feel it when I rub my finger on neck. I have taken Neck CT scan and ultrasound to check these lump and nothing found.I have to check it again with ENT about lump. But PT said it could be a trigger point and need needling on it. Is it safe to do on lump?

Ma'am here you are again with myofacial syndrome, it can only be reduced tgrough dry needlijg and with the help of massage to trigger points. It seems you are so wworied for this , dont worry it will take time but will get reduced after treatment with dry needling.
It's a simple case of malnutrition precipitate at just lower to your rt ear.
Simple treatment protocol :
1. Add plant based proper diet as; Fruit breakast and raw vegetables before the lunch and dinner.
2. Highly minimise use of Refined food.
3. Stop to eat Animal food.
4. Stop to use packed food materials.
( 8-12 week )
After 6-8 week you should take local Ultrasonic therapy at your Physio.
Health Tips
Your understanding regarding the problem is as important as your treating specialist.
Neck stretching with ultrasound, dry needling and /or manual therapy do help with trigger points/myofascial pain and are quite safe generally if all procedures, precautions are followed diligently.
The cause for your lumps in the neck including lymphadenopathy may have to be ruled out before you proceed further with dry needling would be my suggestion.
First try with trigger point release therapy manually..if it shows improvement u can go ahead with dry needling for faster recovery...u can also try dry cupping therapy to improve circulation and reduce pain and the trigger...since u all have already taken opinions and all relevant diagnosis u can go ahead with
Physiotherapy..
