This grew just 2-3 days back and is accompanied by pain in the underarm. it is paining a lot. Does this mean any underlying symptoms. can I apply hot water cotton gently over it? Any relief medication?

This is folliculitis that is infection of a hair or root.It is painful but it will Heal completely I hope by now it has healed.
you can take some painkiller or if it still persist you can contact on private chat for medications.

Its due to hair follicle root infection. Usually very painful. Generally subsides within 2 to 3 days
Just keep the area clean. Taking the pus out by yourself isn't advisable.
You may take the over the counter pain killer for symptomatic relief.
This sometimes happens after shaving.
