Viral Fever
My son is 6 year old and weighs 24 kg he is having fever from last 6 to 7 days his fever interval time is 6 to 7 hrs now had decreased from 10 hrs and range is 100 to 102 The family doctor had prescribed antibiotic as he is also having cough and chest infection and viral. How long will the fever last ? antibiotic 170 mg approx is consumed by him

Most fevers in children are viral in origin and take 3-7 days to subside completely.
Just give paracetamol for fever and repeat every 4 hours if required.
If mild,just give steam inhalations for cold and cough and decongestant nasal drops for nasal block or increased cough on lying down.
If accompanied by other symptoms like wheezing or breathlessness or dullness and refusal to feed,consult your paediatrician asap.
