Why hand pain during pregnancy

I am in second trimester of my pregnancy in the age of 25. Have heard of swelling being a common symptom during pregnancy.But why are my hands paining a lot during this period? I have never experience such a bad pain in hands before. Rest all is going smoothly except for this hand pain.
