It is a fungal infection but it has died down. It doesn't need any active treatment at present except trimming the nails periodically. You can get your pedicure done periodically so that no additional infection gets in.

Thickened yellow toenails affecting a single nail for many years are most commonly due to onychomycosis (fungal nail infection). Other possible causes include nail trauma, psoriasis, lichen planus, or even systemic conditions like diabetes or peripheral vascular disease. Since the condition has been persistent for years, I recommend: ✔ A nail sample test (KOH mount, fungal culture, or PCR) to confirm fungal infection ✔ Oral antifungal medications if diagnosed, as topical treatments alone may not be effective ✔ Regular nail trimming and keeping the feet dry ✔ Avoiding tight footwear and sharing personal hygiene items For a personalized treatment plan, I strongly advise consulting with me. You can reach me on WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two.
