Hoped for better: Treatment satisfaction
I consulted Dr. Saguna for my first child. She put me on low molecular heparin injections on daily basis. She also mandated HCG subcuticle injection biweekly with complete bed rest for the complete duration of 9 months. All this led to around 300 injections during the full course of pregnancy. ** **** ** ***** ********* ***** I insisted on C section so as to have a controlled delivery, kept her informed about the breakage of mucous plug on time, but was still asked to wait for so she could plan the day for C-section. One day, in the early morning hours, the labor pains started and we had no choice but to rush into vaginal delivery. The already thinned blood started spurting out so rapidly that within a short span of 2hours there emerged a risk of extreme blood loss. ** ******** *** ********* she made a deep vaginal cut spanning till the rectal portion. With an assistance of another doctor, she was finally able to get the baby out. However, the loss of blood during the procedure was so severe that I could not sit or stand consciously. By the evening, the vaginal cut formed an extremely painful haemetoma and I was again pushed to the Operation theatre. She told me that the stitches she made were a little tight which caused the excruciating haemetoma. She also assured me that everything will be okay sooner. As the effect of pain killers dwindled, the loosened stitches again started paining by the afternoon next day. I was again asked to visit the OT, this time, she did not use local anesthesia too since it was just a small fixing on the stitches as per her. My body was crying in pain but I still cooperated with the seemingly unusual proceedings. I realized that I was also not able to pass urine since the delivery. So, she referred me to a nephrologist who told me that the sphincter muscle has gone into a state of comma due to extremely painful conditions it faced during the delivery. When I was discharged, I still had 10 inflammated vaginal stitches which were undissolvable(meaning they were to be taken out via another surgical procedure sooner), was carrying urine bag to collect my urine; along with a responsibility of feeding a new born. Such a physical, mental and emotional bankruptcy continued for another fortnight while I regularly visited the nephrologist to find out the possibility whether my urinary system would ever function normally or not. Finally, the urinary bag was removed on 10th day & she called me for a final operation on 13th day of delivery to remove the stitches which was again an operation where extreme pain could be felt despite her claim of using local anesthesia. The deep vaginal cut she made was marginally corrected by the gynae I chose for my second child 3 years hence. Such was my ordeal for a normal delivery assisted by Dr. Saguna Shukla.
