I had a patient yesterday who was running from doctor to doctor, hospital to hospital in hope of a better treatment. Though personally I am not against second opinions or doctor shopping, but it has a few disadvantages, mostly affecting the patient's condition seriously. Wasting golden hours especially in the case of critically ill patients in doctor shopping can cost you a lot. Many a times multiple opinions only push you down into a state of confusion further making your life miserable. It is always better to have a doctor friend or a relative who can guide you ethically.
