1. What is impotency?
Impotency is also known as erectile dysfunction and it is characterized by the inability of a man to develop or maintain a penis erection during a sexual intercourse.

Symptoms which occur over a period of time are decrease in sexual desire, difficulty in getting an erection, difficulty in keeping an erection firm with or without premature ejaculation.

Impotency can be caused by both physical and psychological problems. Physical causes can be due to diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart conditions, excessive smoking, alcoholism, enlarged prostate, increase in use of tobacco, surgery to spinal cord. Psychological causes include stress, depression, anxiety and problems in a relationship.

Yes, it is possible to have a child as one may or may not have problems with reproductive system, but only the inability to perform or sustain an erection and not with production and motility of sperms which can be normal.
