Description

ANO-Metrogyl Cream is a combination medicine consisting of metronidazole, lidocaine and sucralfate. It is used rectally to treat anal fissures and helps in relieving pain and swelling due to fissures and haemorrhoids. This medicine is also used to reduce pain after anorectal surgeries. ANO-Metrogyl Cream works by killing the bacteria that causes infection and promotes healing of infection. It also reduces pain by blocking pain signals to the brain. ANO-Metrogyl Cream shows common side effects that include rectal bleeding, skin rash, burning sensation, itching and irritation at the application site, etc. If any of these symptoms persist for a long time or bothers you, consult your doctor immediately. Avoid using ANO-Metrogyl Cream if previously allergic to it. This cream is not recommended to use in children as safety has not been studied. ANO-Metrogyl Cream is for external use only. Wash and dry the affected area before application. Apply a small quantity of ANO-Metrogyl Cream to the affected area as instructed by your doctor. Make sure to wash your hands before and after use. Avoid contact with your eyes, ears, nose and mouth. In case of accidental contact, wash it immediately with water. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or a breastfeeding women, before using ANO-Metrogyl Cream. ANO-Metrogyl Cream reduces pain and discomfort due to anal fissures. Hemorrhoids

Haemorrhoids (piles) is a condition of inflamed/swollen veins occurring in the lower part of the rectum and anus. These can be of 2 types. The internal haemorrhoids are not painful and can be relieved on their own. The external haemorrhoids are painful and require medical treatment. You may experience bleeding and discomfort while sitting. ANO-Metrogyl Cream helps in reducing pain, burning, itching, etc., that occurs due to hemorrhoids.

ANO-Metrogyl Cream is an external preparation, therefore contact with the mouth, eyes, nose, ears should be avoided. In case of accidental contact, wash with water thoroughly. Follow all the usage instructions mentioned on the label or the package insert before application. Wear gloves and apply a small amount of this cream to the affected area as instructed by the doctor. ANO-Metrogyl Cream may take 10-15 days to show its action. Finish your entire course of treatment even if your symptoms begin to clear up after a few days. Avoid scratching the affected area as it can worsen the infection. Eat a high fibre content and drink lots of water for easy passage of stools.

How it works

ANO-Metrogyl Cream is a combination of metronidazole, lidocaine and sucralfate. Metronidazole is an antibiotic that kills the bacteria present in the affected area and thereby prevents further bacterial infections. Lidocaine which is a local anaesthetic blocks pain signals to the brain thus decreases pain and swelling. Sucralfate forms a protective cover on the skin of the anus and relieves itching, irritation and pain at the application site.
