Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with Emsidon 80 mg Tablet due to the increased risk of side effects such as dizziness, difficulty in concentration, impaired judgment, etc.
Interaction with Medicine
Disease interactions
Emsidon 80 mg Tablet should be used with caution if you have a history of seizures (a brain condition due to abnormal electrical activity in the body leading to jerking movements and loss of consciousness), as this medicine may trigger a seizure attack. Follow all the instructions given by your doctor.
Emsidon 80 mg Tablet should be used with caution if you have diabetes (abnormally high blood sugar level). Follow all the instructions given by your doctor.
Dementia- related psychosis
Elderly with dementia-related psychosis (memory loss along with hallucinations) should avoid taking Emsidon 80 mg Tablet as it can increase the risk of death due to heart failure (the heart is unable to pump enough blood throughout the body) or infections.
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)
Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a rare but life-threatening reaction that can occur in response to the use of antipsychotic medication. It is characterised by high body temperature, muscle rigidity, altered mental status, irregular blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, etc. Emsidon 80 mg Tablet is not recommended if you have neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) as it can worsen your condition.
Food interactions
Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended during treatment with Emsidon 80 mg Tablet as it may increase the blood levels and effects of this medicine, thus increasing the risk of undesired effects.
