Description

Levopil 500 MG Syrup is fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections affecting the lungs, skin and urinary tract - the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra. This syrup is effective against a large number of bacteria. It kills or prevents the growth of bacteria in the body. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Common side effects of Levopil 500 MG Syrup are diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Levopil 500 MG Syrup can cause muscle damage, usually in the ankle. It should only be used to treat or prevent infections that are caused by bacteria. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. For the best results, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times. You can take Levopil 500 MG Syrup 1 hour before or 2 hours after food. For the ease of remembering, take this syrup around the same time every day.

What is it prescribed for?

Cystitis

Cystitis is the swelling of the urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. This is more common in women because their urethra is much shorter, which means bacteria can go into the bladder more easily. Levopil 500 MG Syrup is used to treat cystitis caused by bacteria.

Pyelonephriits

Pyelonephritis is the swelling of the kidneys due to bacterial infection. This infection starts in your urethra or bladder and spreads through the ureters to the kidneys. Levopil 500 MG Syrup is used to treat pyelonephritis. You will start feeling better within a few days after taking Levopil 500 MG Syrup.

Nongonococcal Urethritis

Urethritis is the swelling of the urethra, a small tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. Levopil 500 MG Syrup is used to treat urethritis caused by bacteria other than gonorrhoea.

Skin and soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Levopil 500 MG Syrup is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.

Community-Acquired Pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Levopil 500 MG Syrup is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria like Mycoplasma pneumonia, Streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae, etc.

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Levopil 500 MG Syrup is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.

Inhalation Anthrax

Anthrax is a rare but serious bacterial illness caused by Bacillus anthracis. It is transmitted through air, food, and water contaminated with anthrax spores. Levopil 500 MG Syrup is used for the treatment of inhalation anthrax that occurs when you breathe in anthrax spores.

Allergy

Tendinitis or tendon rupture

Levopil 500 MG Syrup can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Do not use Levopil 500 MG Syrup if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone).

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle weakness condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control, including the arms and legs. Levopil 500 MG Syrup should be avoided in patients with myasthenia gravis since it may get worsen.

Muscle damage

Levopil 500 MG Syrup can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround the ankle. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Levopil 500 MG Syrup, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Photosensitivity

Levopil 500 MG Syrup may make you more sensitive to sunlight or tanning lights. Use sunscreens or wear protective clothing to avoid adverse reactions before stepping outside.

Driving or operating machinery

Levopil 500 MG Syrup may cause dizziness or sleepiness and interfere with eyesight. Hence do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery after taking this medicine.

Diarrhoea

Levopil 500 MG Syrup can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Antacids

If you are taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can increase the time it takes for Levopil 500 MG Syrup to act on your body. Because of this, it is recommended to take this antibiotic at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Levopil 500 MG Syrup. And if a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.
