Description

Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU is a combination of short-acting and intermediate-acting analogues of insulin. It is used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type-I (high blood sugar levels due to genetic conditions) and type-II (high blood sugar levels due to inadequate insulin). This medicine helps in the utilization of glucose and controlling blood sugar levels in such cases. Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, pain at the injection site, diarrhoea etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects get worse or persistent. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine as it can make you feel drowsy and/or dizzy. Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU is available as injection/pen. Take this medicine at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of medicine in your body. Inject this medicine before 30 minutes of having your meal. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor, as your symptoms may reoccur. Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor all about your current medications and existing medical conditions. This will help your doctor to adjust your dose for avoiding side effects. Type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes), is a condition in which your immune system destroys cells that produce insulin. This leads to the pancreas producing little or no insulin. Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU is used in the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes mellitus by providing substitutes of insulin.

Type II Diabetes Mellitus

Type 2 diabetes is a long-term condition where insulin absorption is affected. Your body cannot produce enough insulin or resists the insulin produced by the body. Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU is used in the treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus by providing substitutes of insulin.

Driving and operating machinery

Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU may cause blurred vision or dizziness. Therefore, avoid performing activities like driving vehicles or operating machines while using this medicine.

Changing the type and brand of insulin

Using a different brand or type of insulin should be done only under strict medical supervision.

Single person use

Use Mixtard 30 Flexpen 30/70 100 IU as instructed by your doctor. The needle should be kept under the skin for at least six seconds to make sure the entire dose is injected. The site where the injection is given should be changed every month in order to avoid lipodystrophy (a condition where the fat under the skin breaks down and forms lumps that interfere with insulin absorption). Never share an injection pen, cartridge, or syringe with another person, even if the needle has been changed. Eat a high carbohydrate meal within 30 minutes after using the injection. Keep this medicine away from children and pets. Do not take it in larger or smaller amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult your doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects.
