Description
Cefective 50 MG Syrup is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc. It is also used to treat typhoid fever in children. This medicine prevents infection by killing or stopping the growth of bacteria. Cefective 50 MG Syrup is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Your doctor may advise Cefective 50 MG Syrup alone or in combination with other medications to treat bacterial infections. Cefective 50 MG Syrup shows some common side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Do not take give this medicine if your child is allergic to it. Consult your doctor if any side effects are seen for a long time. Cefective 50 MG Syrup can be taken with or without food. For the ease of remembering, give the syrup to your child at the same time every day. Once your child starts taking the medicine, ensure that the entire course of treatment is completed. Cefective 50 MG Syrup should only be used to treat or prevent infections caused by bacteria. Avoid unnecessary use of Cefective 50 MG Syrup as excessive use may cause the bacteria to become resistant to treatment.

Diarrhoea

Cefective 50 MG Syrup can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your child's stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if your child experiences severe diarrhoea while receiving this medicine.

Antibiotic resistance

The entire course of treatment with Cefective 50 MG Syrup should be completed, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance.

Antacids

Antacids containing aluminium and magnesium salts can reduce the absorption of Cefective 50 MG Syrup. Therefore, if your child has been prescribed an antacid, it is recommended to give this antibiotic at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Cefective 50 MG Syrup. Give the medicine to your child as soon as you remember. Avoid taking the missed dose if the time for the next one is near. Do not double the dose to compensate for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Seek emergency medical attention in case of an overdose with Cefective 50 MG Syrup.

Colitis

Colitis is the inflammation of the large intestine. Cefective 50 MG Syrup can kill the helpful bacteria in your child's stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use this syrup with extreme caution if your child has any stomach and intestinal problems, particularly colitis, as it may worsen his/her health condition.

Impaired kidney function

Cefective 50 MG Syrup is filtered by the kidney and moved out of the body through urine. Hence, maintain caution while using Cefective 50 MG Syrup as it can increase the risk of kidney damage.

Impaired liver function

Cefective 50 MG Syrup may increase liver enzyme levels and cause liver swelling. Hence, maintain caution while using Cefective 50 MG Syrup as it can increase the risk of liver damage.

Seizures

Avoid using Cefective 50 MG Syrup or maintain caution if your child has a history of seizure episodes (fits), as it can trigger an attack of seizures. Your child’s doctor will adjust the dose or replace the medicine with a suitable alternative as required.

A false-positive result may be obtained if this test is performed while taking Cefective 50 MG Syrup.
You can give Cefective 50 MG Syrup with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Shake the bottle well before use. Measure the dose of the medicine carefully using a measuring device. Make sure that your child takes the necessary volume of Cefective 50 MG Syrup. Make sure that your child completes the entire course of this medicine even if the symptoms disappear after few days. If your child discontinues this medicine, there is a chance that the infection may occur again. Also, Cefective 50 MG Syrup may lose its effectiveness in killing the bacteria. Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Give the medicine at the same time daily. Do not recommend this medicine to other parents even if their child's condition appears to be the same.
