Description
Cilnipine-T Tablet is a combination of Cilnidipine and Telmisartan. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine relaxes the blood vessels, thus controlling your blood pressure. Cilnipine-T Tablet can cause side effects like stomach pain, swelling in your hands and feet, irregular heartbeats, headache, etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen. This medicine can cause dizziness, therefore avoid activities that require mental focus like driving vehicles or operating machines. Cilnipine-T Tablet can be taken with or without food, as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will determine the dose based on your condition. Take Cilnipine-T Tablet at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your blood. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor, as your condition may become worse. Cilnipine-T Tablet is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have any heart, liver, or kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines or supplements as they may interact with this medicine and increase the risk of side effects. Allergy

Aliskiren

Taking Cilnipine-T Tablet and Aliskiren (a medicine used to reduce high blood pressure) together is not recommended as it may lead to kidney damage, low blood pressure, and hyperkalaemia (high potassium levels in the blood). This risk is especially higher if you have diabetes or kidney problems.

Severe liver impairment

Cilnipine-T Tablet is not recommended if you have severe liver problems. This medicine may get accumulated in the liver and further lead to liver damage and increased risk of side effects.

Pregnancy

Cilnipine-T Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnancy as it can harm your foetus. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

Cilnipine-T Tablet is not recommended for use while breastfeeding as it is not known if this medicine passes into breastmilk. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
General warnings

Aortic stenosis

Cilnipine-T Tablet should be used with caution if you have aortic stenosis (narrowing or blockage of the aortic valve that regulates blood flow in the chambers of the heart). This medicine slows down the blood flow which may increase the risk of very low blood pressure. It is recommended that you monitor your blood pressure regularly while you take this medicine.

Use in Children

Cilnipine-T Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Renal artery stenosis

Use Cilnipine-T Tablet with caution if you have renal artery stenosis (narrowing or blockage of blood vessels that carry blood to the kidneys) as it may cause uncontrolled high blood pressure, altered kidney function, water retention, and swelling in the body (majorly in limbs). Your kidney function and clinical condition will be closely monitored by your doctor while you are taking this medicine.

Drug withdrawal

Avoid abrupt discontinuation of Cilnipine-T Tablet as it may worsen the condition such as angina (chest pain). Your doctor may gradually reduce the dose based on your condition to avoid undesirable effects.

Hyperkalaemia

Use of Cilnipine-T Tablet may lead to hyperkalaemia (increase the potassium levels in your blood). This may cause side effects such as cardiac rhythm irregularities. Avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.

Driving or operating Machines

Use of Cilnipine-T Tablet may cause symptoms such as drowsiness and/or dizziness. Avoid performing activities that requires high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating heavy machines during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Cilnipine-T Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose of Cilnipine-T Tablet for further guidance.

Congestive heart failure

Hypotension

Cilnipine-T Tablet should be used with caution if you have hypotension (low blood pressure) as this medicine may further lower your blood pressure and worsen your condition. Monitor your blood pressure regularly while you are taking this medicine.

Kidney Disease

Urinary vanillylmandelic acid test is performed to determine the presence of certain tumours. Inform your doctor or the lab technician about the use of Cilnipine-T Tablet as this medicine is likely to give a false positive result.
Take Cilnipine-T Tablet exactly as advised by your doctor. Do not break, crush, or chew the tablet. Take this medicine at the same time everyday for the ease of remembering. Avoid the discontinuation of Cilnipine-T Tablet without consulting your doctor. Exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet as it helps in maintaining your blood pressure. Avoid consuming alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking Cilnipine-T Tablet as it can increase the risk of side effects. Cilnipine-T Tablet can make you feel dizzy. Be careful while standing up from sitting or lying down position. Avoid performing activities such as driving or operating machines if you feel dizzy or drowsy.
