Description
Clofranil 25 MG Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant medicine, used in the treatment of psychological conditions like obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression and anxiety disorders like panic attacks. It is also used in the treatment of muscle weakness associated with a sleep disorder called narcolepsy. It works by increasing the levels of a chemical substance called serotonin in the brain that helps in regulating mood and treating depression. Clofranil 25 MG Tablet may cause some common side effects like dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite stomach upset, indigestion and, constipation. Do not drive vehicles or operate machines as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness. It may cause intense vertigo or dizziness when you suddenly stand up, so it is advised that you rise slowly and with support, if you have been sitting or lying positions. It may also lead to weight gain in some people. Inform your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Clofranil 25 MG Tablet should be taken with food or as prescribed by your doctor. Take this medicine every day at the same time for the ease of remembering. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor as it may cause withdrawal symptoms and even cause changes in your mood. Clofranil 25 MG Tablet may not be suitable for all people. It is not recommended for use in children below the age of 12 years. Avoid taking this medicine if you have liver problems. Allergy

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are the medicines used in the treatment of depression. Clofranil 25 MG Tablet is not recommended for use if you are taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). There should be a time gap of at least 14 days between stopping treatment with MAOIs and beginning treatment with this medicine to avoid their interaction.

General warnings

Suicidal thoughts

Clofranil 25 MG Tablet may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviour in children, adolescents, and young adults (age between 18 to 24) with major depressive disorder (MDD) and other psychiatric conditions. Consult your doctor if you observe any changes in mood or behaviour.

Serotonin Syndrome

Serotonin syndrome is when your body has too much of a chemical called serotonin, usually because of a medication. Clofranil 25 MG Tablet may cause serotonin syndrome. Immediate medical treatment should be initiated if any symptoms of agitation, hallucinations, dizziness, tremor, seizures, nausea, and vomiting appear.

Changes in weight

Clofranil 25 MG Tablet is known to cause either weight loss or weight gain. Inform your doctor if you experience any changes in body weight.

Withdrawal Symptoms

Clofranil 25 MG Tablet may cause withdrawal symptoms if the usage is stopped abruptly. This risk is especially higher after prolonged usage of this medicine. The treatment should be withdrawn gradually under the close supervision of your doctor. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Driving or operating machines

Clofranil 25 MG Tablet may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some people. Hence, do not perform activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Clofranil 25 MG Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose
