Description
Colimex Suspension is composed of Dicyclomine and Simethicone. It is used to treat numerous stomach problems like bloating, cramping, belching and other gastrointestinal problems (disorders of the stomach and intestines). Colimex Suspension is commonly used in infants (children up to one year of age) above six months of age. It works by relaxing the muscles of the stomach and intestines and easing the passage of gas. Colimex Suspension shows side effects like constipation, burping, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting. Do not use this medicine if your child is allergic to it. Consult your doctor if the side effects are persistent or bothering your child. Colimex Suspension can cause drowsiness in your child. Hence, avoid activities that require mental attention while your child is taking this medicine. Colimex Suspension is usually taken before food or as instructed by your child's doctor. Give this medicine at the same time every day such that a constant level of medicine can be maintained in your child's body. Do not stop giving this medicine without consulting your child's doctor as the symptoms may reoccur. Colimex Suspension should be given with caution if your child has kidney or heart disorders. Inform your doctor about all your child's current medications including any herbs and/or supplements as they can interact with this medicine and cause side effects.

Allergic skin reaction

Colimex Suspension may cause serious skin allergies without any warnings. These events may be severe in rare cases. Signs and symptoms like rashes, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), fever, or other allergic symptoms should be reported to your doctor immediately. The treatment should be discontinued if these symptoms appear.

Drowsiness

Colimex Suspension may cause sleepiness and dizziness in some children.

Arrhythmias

Colimex Suspension is filtered by the kidney and moved out of the body through urine. If your child has kidney problems, the medicine does not get filtered out completely. Therefore a special dose consideration is required while using Colimex Suspension.
