Description
Cozymin DX Syrup is a oral preparation used in treating upper respiratory tract infections. It mainly helps in relieving cold and cough symptoms such as nasal and sinus congestion, dry cough, runny and itchy nose, headache, watery eyes, etc., associated with/without fever. However, do not give this syrup to children below 2 years of age. Cozymin DX Syrup may cause certain side effects like headache, diarrhoea, dry mouth, blurred vision, nausea and vomiting, etc. Do not use Cozymin DX Syrup if the patient is previously allergic to it. Complete the entire treatment course for the best results even if symptoms subside. This medicine is not safe for use in pregnant women due to the fetal side effects. Hence tell your doctor if you are pregnant. Take Cozymin DX Syrup with or without food. It's better to take this medicine at the same time daily for ease of remembering. Patients with kidney, heart, diabetes and liver disease should maintain caution while taking this medicine.

Allergy

Some individuals may have severe allergic reactions to Cozymin DX Syrup. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of serious allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc. Avoid taking this medicine if you are previously allergic to it.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a condition seen in males, the prostate (the gland that produces fluid containing sperm) enlarged mainly due to ageing. You may face difficulty in passing urine or have frequent urges to go for urination. Cozymin DX Syrup is not recommended for use in such patients. It contains a medicine named Chlorpheniramine, which can cause urine retention. Hence, taking this syrup with a prostate problem may worsen the condition.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) are medicines used in the treatment of depression. Use of Cozymin DX Syrup is not recommended if the patient has taken MAO inhibitors like selegiline or rasagiline within the last 14 days. This combination may increase the risk of severe adverse effects like drowsiness and blurred vision. The reaction of these medicines may also lead to other serious side effects which may be life-threatening,
