Molnupiravir

Description

Molnupiravir is an oral antiviral medicine used to treat mild to moderate COVID-19 (coronavirus disease caused by a virus known as SARS-CoV-2) in adults. It helps in reducing viral load and disease severity by preventing the virus from multiplying. The medicine does not help in the prevention of COVID-19. Molnupiravir may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, diarrhoea, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or become severe. Molnupiravir may be taken with or without food as directed by your doctor. The dose and duration of treatment will be decided by your doctor based on the severity of your condition. Avoid taking more than the prescribed dose or for a longer duration than recommended. Molnupiravir is not recommended for use in children less than 18 years of age and people needing hospitalization for COVID. It is also not recommended to be taken for more than five consecutive days. Consult your doctor if your condition lasts or becomes worse. Molnupiravir is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have any other medical conditions before taking this medicine. Also, inform your doctor about all your current medications to avoid any undesired effects. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
