Description
Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet is an antipsychotic medicine used for the treatment of schizophrenia (a mental condition that is characterised by disturbed thinking, emotions, perception of reality, sense of self, and behaviour) in adults. It works by altering the action of a chemical substance called dopamine in the brain. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet may cause some side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, restlessness, nervousness, dry mouth, constipation, trouble sleeping, weight gain, etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you for a long time or become severe. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will determine the dose and duration of treatment based on your clinical condition. Take it every day at the same time for the ease of remembering. Avoid taking more than the prescribed dose as it may lead to side effects. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. This medicine should be used with caution if you have diabetes, seizures (fits), Parkinson's disease (a brain disorder that affects movement), or heart, liver, or kidney problems. Inform your doctor about all your ongoing medications to avoid undesired effects. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

Allergy

Phaeochromocytoma

Phaeochromocytoma is a rare tumour of the adrenal glands (a small gland located on top of your kidney that is responsible for producing chemical substances known as hormones). It is often associated with symptoms such as high blood pressure, increased heartbeat, sweating, headache, etc. Avoid taking Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet if you have pheochromocytoma as it may result in a hypertensive crisis (a severe increase in blood pressure with a high risk of other complications that may be life-threatening).

Prolactin dependent tumour

Prolactin-dependent tumour is a tumour that develops due to an excess of prolactin hormone in the body. Women with higher blood levels of prolactin have a higher risk of breast cancer. Also, prolactinoma is a tumour of the pituitary gland (a gland at the base of the brain) that produces an excessive amount of the hormone prolactin. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet is not recommended for use if you have prolactinoma or breast cancer as it may further worsen your condition.

Levodopa

Levodopa is a medicine used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease (a brain disorder that affects movement with symptoms such as tremors, shakiness, stiffness, difficulty in walking, impaired balance and coordination, etc.). Combined use of Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet and Levodopa is not recommended as the effects of these medicines are exactly the opposite. Thus it will reduce the effectiveness of both medications and also increase the risk of undesired effects.

Pregnancy

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Hence, consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet is unsafe for use while breastfeeding as this medicine passes into the breastmilk and may harm your baby. Hence, consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
General warnings

Heart disease

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet Tablet may cause a heart rhythm problem called QT prolongation and also increase the risk of formation of blood clots. Hence, this medicine should be used with caution if you have heart problems. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor the functioning of your heart while you are taking this medicine.

Diabetes mellitus

Diabetes is a condition in which there is an increase in blood sugar levels. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have diabetes as this medicine may alter your blood sugar levels. Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly during treatment with this medicine.

Hypokalaemia

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have low potassium levels. Your doctor may initiate the treatment with this medicine only after the potassium deficit is corrected.

Use in the elderly

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet should be used with extreme caution in the elderly due to the increased risk of side effects.

Use in children

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established.

Seizure disorders

Seizure disorder is a neurological condition in which your brain activity becomes abnormal, causing uncontrolled jerking of the body. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have seizures, as this medicine may trigger a seizure attack and worsen your condition.

Leukopenia

Leukopenia is a condition in which there is decreased white blood cell count characterised by frequent infections, fever with chills, sore throat, mouth ulcers, etc. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet should be use with caution as it may cause leukopenia. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained infections or fever.

Suicidal tendencies

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet may cause changes in mood and behaviour and suicidal thought, especially during the initial stage of the treatment. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience mood changes or develop thoughts of self-harm so that counselling can be done.

Driving or operating machines

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision in some cases. Hence, avoid performing activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet.

Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is a brain disorder that affects movement. Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have Parkinson's disease as it may further worsen your condition.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Contact your doctor in case of an overdose of Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet.

Sulpitac 50 MG Tablet may cause weight gain. Hence, monitor your weight periodically while you are taking this medicine.
