Description
Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet is an antidiabetic medicine used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat type 2 diabetes (a condition that results in high blood sugar) in adults. It works by increasing the activity of hormones that maintain your blood sugar levels before or after a meal. It also increases insulin levels which helps to lower the sugar levels in your blood. Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet shows side effects like low blood glucose levels, and you may feel hungry, irritable, confused, anxious or shaky. Consult your doctor if these symptoms remain for a long time or if they become severe. Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet should be taken exactly as advised by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your body. Do not skip doses or discontinue treatment as it may cause an increase in your blood sugar levels. Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet may interact with other medicines, so inform your doctor if you take any medicines and/or supplements. Allergy

Diabetic ketoacidosis

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a complication of diabetes that occurs when your body produces high levels of acids called ketones in the blood. It can be triggered by infection or other illnesses. Symptoms include thirst, frequent urination, nausea, abdominal pain, weakness, and confusion. Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet is not recommended if you have a history of diabetic ketoacidosis due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Type 1 Diabetes mellitus

Type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Symptoms include increased thirst, frequent urination, hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision. Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet is not recommended if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus.
Warnings for special population

Pregnancy

Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet should be used during pregnancy only if necessary. The risk to the developing foetus is not known. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant before taking this medication.

Breast-feeding

Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet may pass into breastmilk. Hence it is not recommended while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking this medication.
General warnings

QT Prolongation

QT Prolongation is a condition of an irregular heartbeat. Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet should be used with caution if you have a pre-existing heart problem due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Severe liver disease

If you have any pre-existing liver problem, Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet should be used with caution as it may increase your risk of liver damage. Close monitoring of liver function tests is recommended.

Hypoglycaemia

Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet may cause hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels). This risk is especially higher if you are taking other oral anti-diabetic medications along with this medicine. Close monitoring of your blood sugar levels is recommended. It is recommended to carry a sugar candy to counteract the effects of low blood sugar levels.

Alcohol use

Excessive alcohol intake while on treatment with Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet may cause a severe drop in blood sugar levels. Hence alcohol consumption should be avoided.

Driving or operating machinery

Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet may cause low blood sugar levels which may affect your mental alertness. If you experience such symptoms, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

Do not take excess dose than prescribed by your doctor. Consult your doctor if you suspect an overdose with Ten Dc 20 mg Tablet.
