Description
VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used to treat a large variety of infections including urinary tract, ear, and lung infections caused by bacteria. VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET kills the bacteria and stops their further growth. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET can cause some side effects like weakness, headache, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhoea. Seek medical attention if any of these side effects persist or worsen. VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET may trigger an episode of fits or seizures, so consult your doctor if you have noticed such conditions after taking this medicine. It may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits, so it is advised that you do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery after taking this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET is available on prescription as a capsule, tablet, chewable, powder for suspension and syrup. Due to its once-daily dosing regime, it has become a frequent choice for all doctors and patients. It is not safe for use in children less than 6 months of age. VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET can be taken with or without food around the same time every day. Once the antibiotic treatment is started, be sure to finish the entire course of treatment to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance. Do not take VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET when it is not required can make it less effective for future infections. VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET is considered safe for use in pregnant women but should be used with a doctor's prescription. It can pass through breastmilk and can cause diarrhoea in your child so it may not be recommended to be used in breastfeeding.

General warnings

Allergic skin reaction

VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET is likely to cause allergic skin reactions. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, or severe itching/swelling, especially on the face.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET, even if your condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea

VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine, which leads to increased toxin release by the clostridium bacteria. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits. Do not drive a vehicle or operate a machine after taking this medicine.

Liver disease

VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET may increase liver enzyme levels and cause liver swelling. If you have liver disease, you need special consideration while taking VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET due to the risk of liver damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine if required.

Seizures

VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET can trigger an episode of seizures or fits. Seizure medicines should not be discontinued without consulting your doctor. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine if required.

Missed Dose

Do not skip a scheduled dose of VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET. In case you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it has been delayed for more than 6 hours, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the usual time. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Colitis

VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET with extreme caution if you have gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon) as it may worsen your condition.

Kidney diseases

VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET is filtered by the kidney and excreted through urine. You will need special consideration while taking VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET if you have any kidney disease due to the increased risk of kidney damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine if required based on your condition.

Coombs test

The Coombs test is used to detect antibodies that act against the surface of your red blood cells. A false-positive result may be obtained if this test is performed while taking VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET.

Urine ketones test

The test measures ketone levels in your urine. VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET may give a false-positive result for ketones in the urine test using nitroprusside.
Oral forms (Tablets, capsules, syrups): Take VIBAZIME 200 mg TABLET with or without food. Never take/give more than the prescribed dose. Use this medicine at around the same time daily. Finish the entire course of treatment even if you feel better by taking few doses, as abrupt stopping may worsen your condition. Tablet DT: Cefixime tablet DT dissolves quickly and easily in water. It can be dispersed in a teaspoonful or a glass of boiled and cooled water before administration. Do not administer if the tablet is not dissolved/dispersed completely in the water. Dry syrup: Add water up to the mark to the cefixime dry syrup, shake the contents for uniform mixing. Ensure that medicine particles are dissolved properly. Measure an appropriate dose using the measuring spoon, cup or dropper.
