What is CT Angiogram?

Ct Angiogram uses a contrast dye injection into the blood vessel and helps CT Scanning to identify the blocked vessel and hence to evaluate the blood vessel-related ailments such as blockages or aneurysm. Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) is typically performed by a Radiologist in the radiology department in the hospital or an outpatient radiology lab. The contrast dye is injected through a catheter in the vein through an arm.

  3. Though the patient can consume water whereas the consumption of caffeinated drinks or alcohol is to be avoided.  
  4. If the patient is allergic to the contrast dye administered then the patient is advised to take steroid medication 12 hours prior to the test to avoid the risk of reaction.
  5. The clothes should be loose and the material should be hypoallergenic usually the patient is asked to change into a hospital gown. 
  6. The patient should also remove all the jewellery and glasses.
